Frequently asked questions.

Therapy

Therapy is a supportive space to explore your thoughts, feelings, and experiences with curiosity and compassion. Central to this process is the therapeutic relationship itself—a safe, collaborative partnership where you are heard, understood, and supported. It’s a space to gain clarity, nurture your strengths, and discover new ways to care for your overall well-being. Whether you’re navigating life’s challenges, seeking balance, or simply hoping to grow, therapy offers guidance and insight tailored to you, built on trust, empathy, and mutual respect.

What is the process?

When you’re ready, reach out by phone or email to schedule a brief consultation. This gives us a chance to answer any questions you have and determine if we feel like a good fit to work together—because finding a therapist who resonates with you is an important part of the process.

If we decide to move forward, we’ll schedule your first session, called the intake session. During this session, I’ll learn more about your background, history, and goals for therapy. Together, we’ll also find a regular schedule—weekly or bi-weekly—for ongoing sessions that works for you.

What kind of therapy do you do?

I offer an integrative, client-centered approach designed to support both mental and physical well-being, helping you gain insight, build resilience, and create meaningful, lasting change. By combining evidence-based therapies—including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), trauma-informed, relational, and experiential approaches—with lifestyle and functional medicine principles, I provide a truly holistic healing experience that addresses your overall wellness.

When we work together, we begin by looking at your whole picture: your stressors, daily habits (like sleep, nutrition, and movement), emotional and physical health, and your environment. From there, we co-create a personalized plan that supports mind, body, habits, and lifestyle—helping you restore balance, build resilience, and feel your best. This approach focuses on identifying and addressing root causes of your concerns, so the changes you make are lasting and meaningful.

How long does therapy take?

There’s no one-size-fits-all answer—everyone’s journey is different. Some people feel better after a handful of sessions, while others continue for months or even years. The pace is really about what works for you.

Sometimes progress can feel slow, and that’s okay. Taking your time allows you to truly process your experiences, integrate insights, and create changes that stick. My goal is for the growth you make in therapy to be lasting—something that continues to support you long after our sessions end.

How often are sessions scheduled?

I typically recommend starting with weekly or every-other-week sessions, as each session builds on the last and helps maintain momentum. Once you’re feeling more stable and confident, we can gradually space sessions out to suit your needs and support long-term progress.

What about functional medicine?

Our physical health and psychological well-being are deeply connected. Functional medicine emphasizes identifying and addressing the root causes of physical symptoms—like sleep difficulties, digestive issues, or chronic stress—rather than just treating the surface-level problems. When these underlying factors are supported, it can have a profound impact on emotional health, mood regulation, and overall resilience. By combining a functional medicine perspective with psychological care, we can address both mind and body, helping you feel more balanced, energized, and able to thrive in all areas of life.

Do you accept insurance?

Diamond Psychological Services does not currently contract with insurance providers. However, if your plan offers out-of-network benefits, we can provide a superbill that you can submit to your insurance company for potential reimbursement. While we cannot guarantee coverage or reimbursement, many clients are able to recover some or all of their session costs through their insurance.

Please check with your insurance provider for details. When speaking with your carrier, it can be helpful to ask:

  • Do I have out-of-network benefits, and if so, what portion of the costs will be reimbursed?

  • Are there any deductibles that must be met before coverage applies?

  • Is a referral or prior authorization required, and are there limits on the number of therapy sessions allowed within a certain period?

  • What is the process for submitting claims for reimbursement? (Most carriers allow submission online or by mail once you have a receipt or superbill from your provider with the necessary diagnostic and service codes.)
